Larry (I/T staff) told the committee that Microsoft SQL Server databases underpin nearly all of the city’s on-premise software applications and that the Information and Administrative Services (IaaS) department chose to outsource database administration after a six-month trial with the vendor. Larry said StraightPath Solutions performed well during the trial and recommended a nine-month contract while the department assesses longer-term needs and an eventual annual arrangement.
When a committee member asked why the term was nine months, Larry said the shorter term allows staff to reduce estimated hours after the initial period and likely transition to a year-long agreement with a different rate structure.
Motion by Wehrmacht, seconded by Petrillo, to approve a nine-month agreement with StraightPath Solutions for $37,500 carried by voice vote. The motion was recorded as carried in the meeting audio; the transcript includes a roll-call for approval of the motion.
Staff said after nine months they expect to reassess required hours and renegotiate an annual agreement if appropriate.
