City staff said Delegate Schindler has filed two council‑sponsored bills: one would authorize — but not require — local governments to outfit enforcement personnel (including code and parking enforcement staff) with body cameras; the other would alter annexation procedure to return to earlier rules under which zoning could be allowed if city and county land‑use codes were substantially the same, removing an express‑approval step in some cases. Staff said the Maryland Municipal League (MML) is expected to be supportive.
Staff also reported local facility updates: a new Meredith medical school event was held, the county field house opened with a large first weekend of events and a grand opening scheduled for Feb. 18, and 32 North customer service operations are progressing — the drive‑through should open in the coming weeks and a first‑floor meeting space and expanded TV studio are planned for the building.
Staff warned of expected icy weather and urged residents to monitor city social channels for service changes.
