Committee advances $6 million appropriation for Merriam Polk Food Share expansion to Ways and Means

The Senate Committee on Human Services on Feb. 4 advanced Senate Bill 452, a $6 million general fund appropriation to the Department of Administrative Services for distribution to Merriam Polk Food Share Inc. for a capital expansion project.
A committee staff summary reported the measure declares an emergency, would be effective July 1, 2025, and has a subsequent referral to the Joint Committee on Ways and Means. Senator Lendly moved the bill with a due-pass recommendation and requested referral to Ways and Means by prior reference. The committee called the roll. Senator Nash, Senator Pruzanski and Senator Reynolds recorded "aye." Vice Chair Lindtkeling announced she would be a "no" in committee, but the chair indicated the motion had the required votes and ordered referral to Ways and Means.
The committee closed the work session on SB 452 and proceeded to the next agenda item.
