The Senate Committee on Rules voted on Feb. 3, 2025 to return Senate Bill 436 to the Senate president’s desk without recommendation and request referral to a committee better suited to consider the bill.
Vice Chair Daniel Bonham moved “Senate Bill 4 36 without recommendation back to the Senate president's desk requesting re referral to another committee.” After brief discussion that the bill had a nexus with housing, the committee agreed to move the bill for referral and approved the motion by roll call.
Senator Burnham said he had conferred with the bill sponsor when the bill was assigned to the Rules Committee and that the sponsor indicated a preference to continue the conversation in the committee with a housing focus. The chair called the roll; the committee recorded affirmative votes from Senator Golden — "Aye," Senator Manning — "Aye," Senator Thatcher — "Aye," Vice Chair Bonham — "Aye," and the chair announced, "Motion passes."
