House Foreign Affairs Committee adopts rules, staff list and oversight plan; members outline reauthorization priorities

The House Committee on Foreign Affairs adopted its committee rules, professional staff list and the committee’s oversight plan by unanimous consent during an organizational meeting, the panel’s chair announced.

The action, moved by the committee chair and approved without a recorded roll-call vote, concluded the organizational business required under House rules. Chairman Michael McCaul said the committee will use its reauthorization authority to scrutinize State Department programs and to make each subcommittee responsible for specified State Department branches and bureaus.
