Davenport trustees approve new combined postings-and-exhibits policy; table director wage increase

The board moved first to eliminate the existing exhibits policy and then to approve the combined community postings and exhibits policy, after both items were brought forward as old business. Both motions passed by roll call vote with all trustees present voting yes.
Board members said the consolidated policy replaces two separate documents and will govern both community postings and exhibits at library facilities. Trustees did not discuss substantial edits during the public meeting; the vote followed discussion at the prior month’s meeting.
Separately, trustees considered a proposal to approve a retroactive wage increase for the library director to be effective Jan. 1. The board’s vote to defer that approval to the next monthly meeting followed staff testimony that the city’s personnel director had not supplied the exact percentage increase and that city administration is reviewing compensation across departments.
The chair instructed staff to obtain the personnel director’s number so the board can finalize the retroactive increase at the next meeting.
