The Woodland Park Board of Adjustments on an unscheduled meeting (date not specified) unanimously approved minutes from a prior meeting and elected Vice Chair Jim Rumsey as chair and Nick Abercrombie as vice chair.
The actions were taken by consent with all four members present voting in favor. The board—reduced to four voting members after Valerie Lundy was absent—approved the minutes, then passed the nominations for leadership. After the vote, Jim Rumsey, newly elected chair, thanked his colleagues and city staff: "Thank you for your vote of confidence from my peers and to city staff, CJ, Karen. And, this is an honor," Rumsey said.
Board members and staff spent the rest of the meeting discussing recruitment for alternate board members and giving an update on the ongoing code review. Planning Director Karen (Planning Director) told the board staff values their service and that the code review work sessions are intended to build consensus before public hearings. "We recognize how essential and important you are to, any case that you do here," Karen said.
Staff emphasized that the application deadline for the February Board of Adjustments meeting has passed with zero applications received, and urged members to recruit candidates who live within Woodland Park city limits and are not serving on other city boards. A staff member noted that some legal requirements apply to eligibility: alternates must be city residents and cannot simultaneously serve on another city board; if appointed, the candidate would appear before city council for confirmation and would be sworn in at that meeting.
Betsy, a staff member, reminded the board that training and onboarding are available for new appointees: "We can give a training if somebody new comes in, or we can lead them to the recording of the last training Nina even did for you all," she said.
There were no public hearings on the agenda. With no further business, the board adjourned.
