Design Review Board approves signage and minor façade changes for Mickey’s Irish Pub at 429 E. Third St.

The Davenport Design Review Board on Jan. 27 approved a design-review application to install new signage, decorative columns and paint portions of the brick façade at 429 East Third Street for a new Mickey’s Irish Pub location.

Board staff said the proposal calls for signage reading “Mickey’s Irish Pub” with the restaurant logo on each end mounted to the metal parapet, four gooseneck lights to illuminate the signage, decorative columns at the entrance and painting a section of brick a charcoal gray to match the parapet. Staff recommended approval “in accordance with this new work write up and materials.”

Jeff (applicant representative) presented a mockup and described the materials: “it’s a architectural grade aluminum composite material” for the flat panel over the corrugated façade and “sign grade aluminum composite material for the green outline,” and said the lettering panels would be white PVC. He added that “nothing’s internally illuminated; it’s all illuminated by the gooseneck lighting.”

Board members asked about visual details such as raised trim around shamrock logos; the applicant said the trim is anodized-bronze in person and that black accents would not be used. The applicant also said proposed striped awnings in green, white and orange were planned but will be brought later because of insurance and installation requirements.

Motion and vote: The board moved to approve the design review as submitted. The board voted unanimously in favor (Rashid — yes; Stineker — yes; Payone — yes; Anderson — yes; Malcek — yes).
