Chairman Chris Irvin said the Georgia House Rules Committee approved its committee rules and distributed a rules protocol to help members navigate the rules process during the legislative session.
The committee adopted the rules by voice vote after a motion and second were made; the motion passed with members answering “I.” Chairman Chris Irvin told members they should have a copy of the "25 and 26, rules protocol" and encouraged them to complete and turn in the form required to have a bill placed on the rules calendar.
The committee introduced members and staff present. Chairman Chris Irvin named Vice Chairman Leverett, Representative Stacy Evans and Representative Tanya Miller as members of the rules committee. He also introduced Dan Noe, identified as a Georgia State University student who will serve as an intern during the session, and staff members Ms. Lewis and Leo Chaney.
Chairman Irvin asked members to pay attention to office emails and notices for meeting scheduling, saying he anticipated the committee would begin meeting next week. The chairman adjourned the meeting after completing the day's business.
No formal written ordinances, statutes or resolutions were cited during the portion of the meeting that covered committee rules; no roll-call vote tally was recorded in the transcript.
