Senate Regulated Industries and Utilities Committee raises quorum to seven, adopts rules unanimously

Senator Brass, chair of the Senate Regulated Industries and Utilities Committee, opened the committee by asking members to consider adopting updated committee rules and said the body would then take up a single bill on the agenda.
The committee unanimously adopted the proposed rules after a motion to approve by Senator Summers. The change increases the quorum from six members to seven to reflect the committee’s larger membership; Senator Brass said the chair consulted legislative counsel and the secretary of the Senate and decided ex officio members need not be included when setting quorum but that a majority of members should be present before moving a bill.
Committee members raised no amendments or further discussion before the voice/hand vote. "All in favor, please raise your hand. And any opposed, like, sign. Alright. That will be a unanimous vote, Paige," Senator Brass said after the vote.
With the rules adopted, the committee proceeded to its single bill on the agenda for the day.
