Committee clears two summer and spring events at Sunbury parks: Eagle Adventure Camp and Light Up Kinslow tournament

Jody Greger, identified in the packet as a teacher with Big Walnut Schools, is proposing Eagle Adventure Camp for its third year. Staff said the camp will run June 2–27 and July 7–18, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine; the shelter house will serve as a base while many activities occur off site and elsewhere in the park. Staff said the camp uses roughly five parking spots for staff, buses will transport children, proceeds return to the school and the event has cleared reviews by fire, police and other service departments. “All proceeds go back to the school,” a staff member noted.
The committee had no objections and confirmed past experience with the camp has been problem‑free. Staff said the event does not block general park access and the applicant has historically cleaned up and permitted bathroom access to the public when needed.
The Light Up Kinslow tournament is a public disc golf event organized by a local club; staff said council previously approved nighttime use of Kinslow Park for the event. The tournament will include two rounds, one during the day and one at night, and staff said they expect about 72 players. Organizers will charge $50 per person or $90 per team; fees fund prizes, food and tournament costs. A food truck planned for the event has passed fire inspection, and staff said the fire department will recheck tents and cooking arrangements the day of the tournament.
Staff reported that other departments had given the tournament a thumbs up and that the organizing club has not caused clean‑up issues in prior events. The tournament date in the packet is April 19.
