District staff briefed the board on planned work at the high school, including design and procurement steps to replace four bathrooms and to begin design for an auditorium renovation.
The superintendent said the bathroom replacement designs have been in development since the prior summer. The bathrooms require plumbing replacement in parts of the building where pipes have deteriorated (staff attributed some failures to periods when fixtures were unused during COVID-era closures). The district plans to seek board approval of related bids in March so installation can proceed over the summer.
On the auditorium, staff described an initial steering-committee meeting with students and staff to begin design input; that meeting was scheduled for Jan. 15 at 1:30 p.m. Staff said some improvements (such as painting and lighting touch-ups) might be done sooner, while larger work such as seating replacement and a full renovation could be staged with the goal of having major renovations complete by the 2026 school year opening. Trustees discussed sequencing so that interim maintenance (paint, lighting) would not be undone by later flooring or seating work.
