Arts Commission members reported that 30 artists have submitted work for the fifth annual Woman in Art showcase, the largest number in the program’s five-year history. The exhibit will run through March at various Stow City businesses and culminate in a reception scheduled for April 1 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the new Community and Senior Center.
Janelle and other commission volunteers are finalizing business placements and collecting artist waivers; the commission aims to place artists with businesses by Feb. 14 and to deliver final materials to Parks and Recreation so promotional flyers can be produced. The commission expects the exhibit to include a mix of returning and new artists and said participating artists may sell work at their display locations during March.
A reception also will feature a slideshow of artist photos, refreshments and recognition of repeat participants. Commission members discussed recognizing two artists who have participated all five years. The reception will be public and promoted through the Arts Commission and city social channels if Parks and Recreation approves inclusion in the city newsletter.
What’s next: commissioners will collect remaining artist bios and waivers, finalize the passport and flyer materials, and coordinate marketing with Parks and Recreation.
