Geneva Library announces fourth annual ‘One Book, One Community’ with author visit and 1,295 giveaway copies

Lauren Maxwell, information and reader services coordinator at the Geneva Public Library, presented the library’s fourth annual One Book, One Community program to the City of Geneva City Council and described the schedule and community events tied to the selection.

"This year, we've selected a book that explores the interconnectedness of our experiences," Maxwell said, naming the selection as No Two Persons by Bridal Bauermeister and noting the author is an award-winning, New York Times bestselling novelist. Maxwell said the program launches on Saturday the eighth and that the Friends of the Library generously donated 1,295 copies for giveaway.

Maxwell outlined a program schedule that includes a kickoff event on the launch date, a tiny art show using 3-by-5-inch canvases that will be displayed in the library lobby, a community resource fair on March 8, a volunteer fair and blood drive on April 5, a community-wide discussion on April 9 at 4:30 p.m., and an author appearance and book signing with Bridal Bauermeister on Sunday, April 13 (the finale) made possible by the library foundation.

Alderman Peschke and other council members thanked Maxwell and praised the program. Peschke said the selection was "a very timely book for our community to be reading together this year." Maxwell also noted that large-print copies are available for checkout but were not included in the giveaway due to availability and cost constraints.

The library will make books available for checkout and through its e-library in addition to the giveaway. Maxwell encouraged community participation in the events and said she looked forward to seeing attendees at the kickoff and related programs.
