The Board of Zoning Adjustment on Feb. 5 approved application 21236 to allow an uncovered second‑story stair and landing that provides access to a roof deck at 906 Westminster Street NW, in the RF‑1 zone.
Board members said the Office of Planning’s report and letters from the Advisory Neighborhood Commission and adjacent neighbors supported approval. “I didn't really have an issue with this,” Chairman Fred Hill said before moving to approve the application.
The application sought relief from Subtitle E rear‑yard and lot‑occupancy standards to permit a rear stair and modest increase in lot occupancy under an expedited review. Board members said the proposal complied with the Office of Planning analysis and that the applicant had engaged the ANC and adjacent neighbors. Vice Chair Lourda John seconded Chairman Hill’s motion. The roll call recorded five votes in favor and none against, and the secretary reported the motion carried 5‑0‑0.
The board noted that summary or full orders will be prepared by the Office of Zoning according to standard procedures and advised participants that further filings accepted into the record must meet the Office of Zoning’s rules for late exhibits.
The board’s action concludes the expedited hearing; the file will reflect the board’s summary order unless later appeals or requests for a full order are filed.
The Office of Zoning will post the final documentation to its website when the record is complete.
