The Adams County Planning and Zoning Commission approved a rezone request from Merlin and Sherry Lang to change a five-acre portion of their property from A-1 35 Exclusive Agricultural District to A-3 Secondary Agricultural District.
Planning staff said the town of Adams reviewed the proposal at its January meeting and did not object, calling the change a “betterment of the property.” The applicants told the commission the change was intended to provide a retirement home site and create an access location separate from the existing driveway; they said the split would help their children keep or sell the remaining land in the future.
A staff summary indicated the site consists of two parcels totaling approximately 80 acres; the portion proposed for rezoning is about five acres. No public comments for or against the request were recorded. Commissioners voted to approve the rezone; the approval will be forwarded to the full county board for final action on the 18th at 6 p.m.
