Sheriff Jeff Nelson told the board the county first selected the current vendor after a 2019 request for proposals and fully implemented the system in 2020. The system includes forward- and rear-facing in-car cameras plus body-worn cameras, holster-triggered activation, an “officer down” alarm and CAD-proximity activation so recordings start automatically when a deputy approaches a call, Nelson said.
