Commissioners reviewed two community proposals: a Lions Club kiosk in the arboretum to provide information about paver fundraising, and a proposal from a local instructor to offer archery classes.
The Lions Club idea: Wendy Van Orman contacted staff and the application form submitted (listed contact Bill Ash) proposed a locked kiosk near the new picnic tables in the arboretum to hold brochures and a paver-order form. Commissioners said they had not seen a final kiosk design and asked staff to invite the Lions Club to present a detailed design, materials, brochure examples and a list of proposed contents at a future commission meeting.
Archery classes: Staff reported that an instructor who has taught archery through Spokane regional programs proposed offering classes in Liberty Lake. Commissioners expressed interest but emphasized safety and payment logistical questions. Staff said the program would follow the same approval pathway as previous outside-program presenters (for example, dance and pickleball vendors): the commission would offer a recommendation and the agreement would be approved by City Council. Staff noted outstanding questions about payment handling and asked the proposer to provide a detailed safety and operational presentation.
Ending: The commission agreed to invite the Lions Club to present a kiosk design at a future meeting and to request a detailed archery program presentation that covers safety, site selection and payment/insurance arrangements. No financial commitments were made at this meeting.
