City schedules public forum on Railroad Avenue sidewalk repairs; some street trees may be removed and replaced

Mark said the project focuses on correcting heaving, cracking and displacement of concrete panels along Railroad Avenue. The work will move forward in multiple phases; the city will remove and replace some existing street trees, while retaining others, and plans to move the project to bid in “a month to six weeks,” as stated at the meeting.
The manager invited the public to attend the forum to learn details about the plan and the near-term schedule. He also recognized public works crews for winter-weather response and described the city’s approach to snow routes: the city prioritizes critical routes to hospitals and other infrastructure, with residential streets served afterward as manpower allows.
The city encouraged residents to consult posted snow-route maps on the city website and said crews remain on call for winter events. The Railroad Avenue project will address immediate sidewalk needs first, with subsequent phases to follow as funding and schedules permit.
No vote or final contract award was recorded at the Feb. 4 meeting; the forum is intended to inform residents before the project proceeds to bid.
