Oak Harbor council unanimously backs school levy renewal

The Oak Harbor City Council on Feb. 4 voted unanimously to adopt Resolution 25-04 in support of Oak Harbor Public Schools Proposition 1, a renewal of an education programs and operations levy.
City Administrator Sabrina Combs said the item was brought to the council at the council's request to place a formal resolution of support on the agenda. "We received a request from council to add this to the agenda as a resolution in support of the Oak Harbor Public Schools Levy," Combs said.
Councilmembers spoke in favor of the resolution during council discussion. Councilmember Romero said, "this is not an excessive levy, and I want to voice my strong support for us as a group to pass a resolution in support of it." The Mayor Pro Tem and Councilmember Wiesner also urged the council to publicly endorse the levy, saying the measure would maintain current programs and services and that residents should consult school-district materials for details.
Mayor Pro Tem moved to approve Resolution 25-04 supporting Proposition 1; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
No public comments were submitted on the resolution before the meeting, and no additional public comments were offered during the council discussion. The resolution records the council's formal support for the school-district levy renewal.
