The rules, posted on NELIS, add detail to the Senate standing rules and the joint standing rules adopted by the full Senate. They cover timely submission of exhibits, standards for decorum and professional conduct, and procedures for how members will be recognized during committee discussion.
The committee chair, Julie Pizzina, asked for a motion to approve the rules; Vice Chair Skip Daley moved the motion and Senator Dina Flores seconded it. After a brief call for discussion, Chair Pizzina asked, “All in favor, please say aye.” Senator Daley responded “Aye,” and the chair said the motion carried.
The chair told members the rules are intended to “create an atmosphere of mutual respect, courtesy, and professionalism” and emphasized civility as a priority for the committee through the session. The rules also reference the committee’s use of laptops to view exhibits and instruct members of the public on how to submit and present testimony, including signing in for in-person testimony and spelling names for the record.
No public testimony was offered during the meeting’s public-comment period.
The committee scheduled its next meeting for Friday, February (date announced as) at 8 a.m.
