City to accept $1.518 million HSIP grant for 140th Avenue NE safety corridor project

No local match is required, and staff requested council add the project to the capital improvement program (CIP) and accept the grant.
Staff explained the award arrived after the CIP was finalized for the budget cycle and therefore required a mid-cycle CIP amendment. Council members praised staff for securing the grant; one council member noted interest in the feasibility study to remove or reconfigure slip lanes to slow turning vehicles. Staff said they would follow up with WSDOT program administrators as needed.
