City planning staff introduced a proposed three-year contract with Green Rubino to provide tourism public relations services to implement Redmond’s tourism strategy. The total contract amount on introduction was $225,000, described as $75,000 per year (an annual $60,000 allocation from the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee-approved budget plus an anticipated $15,000 in grants or other funding).
Staff said they ran a competitive RFP, received 10 proposals and selected Green Rubino after two rounds of scoring. The agency will work under city staff management, collaborate with the existing tourism marketing consultant (Experience Redmond) and report on work informed by the adopted tourism strategic plan and the economic development plan.
Council members asked about possible World Cup promotions and whether that work would be covered by the contract scope; staff said World Cup support is in the scope to avoid additional fees but final specifics will be developed after the consent agenda and as the city hires a limited-duration World Cup staff member. Council members also asked that PR reporting be presented to council as the program develops. Staff requested the item be placed on the March 4 consent agenda.
