The Everett City Council selected Dan Murphy and Michael Schreck as members of the city's salary commission Tuesday after the council conducted a re-vote to confirm the tally.
Council President Schwab read five nominees submitted citywide: Nathan Shelby; Carrie Lonergan Drake; Marnie Claywell; Dan Murphy; and Michael Schreck. Under council procedure each councilmember publicly named two choices; the clerk tallied votes to identify the top two vote-getters.
After an initial tally produced confusion about vote counts, councilmembers agreed to repeat the selection round. In the re-vote each councilmember again named two nominees. The clerk reported that Dan Murphy and Michael Schreck each received four votes; Nathan Shelby and Carrie Lonergan Drake each received three votes; Marnie Claywell received zero.
Council members who announced support for the final selections during the roll call included: President Schwab (named Dan Murphy and Michael Schreck), Council Member Tuohy (Carrie Lonergan Drake and Dan Murphy), Council Member Vogley (Nathan Shelby and Michael Schreck), Council Member Ryan (Michael Schreck and Nathan Shelby), Council Member Bader (Nathan Shelby and Carrie Lonergan Drake), Council Member Fosse (Dan Murphy and Michael Schreck), and Council Member Ben Zirlingo (Carrie Lonergan Drake and Dan Murphy). The clerk confirmed the final tally and the council accepted the selections.
The council did not discuss terms or duties at length during the meeting; the clerk recorded the results and the selections will be processed according to the city's appointment procedures.
