The West Clermont Local School Board voted 5-0 on Feb. 3 to authorize preparation and dissemination of one or more board‑approved “statements of fact” about the district’s combined bond issue and proposed earned‑income tax.
Board members said the materials — to include FAQs, a table of contents of topics, and links to prior community engagement — are intended to give residents clear, consistent information as the district moves through levy planning and public outreach ahead of a May ballot date. The board recorded the vote in a roll call: Mister Rudy, Mister Chumley, Miss Sanborn, Missus Spencer and Mister Patton all voted yes.
The resolution follows a series of district presentations and a community town‑hall exercise during the meeting that reviewed the district’s revenue sources, spending categories and scenario planning for operating and capital needs. Administrators told the board they were assembling a package of materials that will include background data, engagement timelines and a chart district staff developed to help residents estimate the levy’s fiscal impact on individual households.
District staff noted an updated project scoping process with the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) that reduced the bond scope compared with earlier drafts, and an internal facilities projection of about $58,000,000 in potential future facility costs across identified buildings. The board said the outreach materials will explain the difference between bonds (for buildings and permanent improvements) and operating levies, and will document the district’s process for narrowing project scope and considering financing options.
Board members and staff highlighted several upcoming outreach steps: a community town hall scheduled for Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. at Clough Pike Elementary, continued updates to the district bond/levy web page and links to Citizens Advisory Commission materials. The district will circulate the board‑approved statements of fact in print, online and in outreach events.
Next steps: staff will finalize the statements of fact for review and return to the board for continued oversight. The board said it will continue to bring factual materials to each meeting as levy planning proceeds.
