City staff updated the Wildwood Historic Preservation Commission that the Asen Log Cabin reconstruction project is out to bid and that five prospective contractors attended pre-bid meetings.
The Department of Planning staff said potential bidders included Tourette Creek Excavating, Aspire Construction Services, Heritage Restorations, Wolfe Building Companies and Bombshell Construction; at least two of the firms have documented experience in historic log-cabin restoration, staff added. Bid submissions close Tuesday, Jan. 28, when bids will be read aloud, and the commission scheduled a special meeting for Friday, Jan. 30 at 3 p.m. to review the bids and proceed if a quorum is present.
Why it matters: the Asen Log Cabin is listed as a top-five priority in the commission’s 2025 work program and the commission identified the cabin’s erection as anticipated this summer. The commission did not take a contract award at this meeting; staff said the next formal action would follow the Jan. 30 special meeting.
The department invited commissioners to indicate who could attend the Jan. 30 meeting to ensure quorum. Staff said they are "excited to proceed" and welcomed questions from commissioners; none were raised beyond scheduling and quorum confirmation.
No vote on contract award occurred at this meeting; staff described process steps and timeline.
