Planning staff told commissioners this tower location has been in use for many years and supports multiple co‑locators; the newer antenna technology requires additional offset, and similar CUP amendments have been granted for other local towers. Staff concluded that the additional six inches of offset would not create a notable visual impact on the skyline and that the technology upgrade would improve service for residents and the traveling public on Route 109.
The commission moved and seconded the department’s recommendation and approved the amendment on roll call. Commissioners asked technical questions about tower painting and lighting; staff noted towers under 200 feet do not require aviation lighting and that the planning office would confirm paint requirements in the conditional use permit.
