The Administration & Public Works Committee approved a city contract with Go Green Lawn & Landscape to perform finished mowing of about 15.5 acres of city right-of-way in 2025, with a not-to-exceed amount of $65,000 and a requested contingency of $10,000.
Public works staff said using an outside contractor for right-of-way mowing will reduce the city’s costs and that four bids were received; Go Green was the low bidder. The proposed agreement covers mowing along specified city routes and includes an option to extend for two additional years with a proposed 10 percent increase in year two. Staff told the committee it retained the right to terminate for service issues and reminded members that multi-year extension decisions would be subject to annual appropriation.
Council members asked about contract enforcement and ability to terminate for poor performance; staff said the city could terminate for service issues and that, because multi-year service is subject to annual appropriation, the council has a built-in escape if performance or cost concerns arise.
Ending: The committee approved the contract and staff will finalize the agreement with Go Green and monitor performance; staff noted they plan to apply similar procurement methods for park mowing in future cycles.
