The committee approved moving forward with M&H Concrete Contractors for the city’s 2025 concrete street and sidewalk replacement program after M&H submitted the low bid and the city decided to scale the work slightly to stay under the $1.3 million budget.
Staff said M&H’s low bid was approximately $1,000,002.88 and that the city budgeted $1.3 million for the annual concrete/sidewalk program. To keep the project within the budget, staff recommended a contract not to exceed $1,250,000 and withholding about $50,000 for construction inspection and contingency. Council members asked about sidewalk finishes and matching existing textures; staff said standard broom finish is typical and that matching worn finishes from decades-old sidewalks may not be feasible but staff will work with residents where concerns arise.
The committee approved the contract award by voice vote.
Ending: Staff will finalize the agreement with M&H Concrete Contractors and proceed with the 2025 concrete street and sidewalk program, scaled to remain within the budgeted amount.
