The Parks & Recreation Committee voted to recommend TMP 3209 to City Council, approving 2025 polling contracts with the Jackson County Board of Election Commissioners for four community centers.
Donna Lake, assistant city manager, said the item is the annual agreement for use of Lovell Community Center, Harris Park Community Center, Longview Community Center and the Gamber Center as polling places. “We really don’t have a formal presentation on this, but this is the annual contracts between the parks board and the Jackson County Election Board for use of 4 of our community centers as election and polling sites,” Lake said. She added that the county pays a nominal fee of $150 per site to parks.
Committee members confirmed who is authorized to sign the agreement; staff confirmed the administrator of parks and recreation is the appropriate signer. The committee moved and seconded the recommendation; recorded votes show Vice Chair Lopez, Member Carlisle and Chair Shields voting in favor.
This action is a committee recommendation to full council. If council approves the ordinance, the parks department will execute the agreements and continue to host the four polling locations in 2025.
