District opens 4K enrollment and outlines summer school plans and childcare partnerships

Jennifer Willoughby, director of Early Childhood and Family Education, told the committee that 4K enrollment opens the morning after the committee meeting and that enrollment information and flyers are posted on the district website.
She said the YMCA will provide wrap care at Cooper and the district will provide limited transportation from Northern Lights to the YMCA for up to five children. The district will also partner with Head Start and continue to offer elementary summer school at Cooper and Great Lakes; administrators said rotating sites across years helps building operations and supports families who prefer attending their child’s home school when possible.
Summer offerings will include elementary programming at Cooper and Great Lakes, middle-school classes and Spartan Athletic Development for middle- and high-school students. The YMCA will host wrap care during summer school at Great Lakes and continue Camp Tall Pines with pickup/drop-off at Northern Lights; the district noted that Spanish immersion or other language courses are not offered this summer due to licensing and reimbursement requirements.
Ending: Enrollment opens Feb. 4, 2025; staff will continue to update the website and phone callers who seek information about 4K and summer programming.
