District rolls out new mission, vision and next steps for strategic plan scorecard

District staff presented the recently finalized mission, vision and strategic pillars and described next steps to turn the strategic plan into a continuous improvement scorecard.
The district hired consultant Joe Schroeder to help translate pillars into one-year action steps; staff are designing metrics for a scorecard and a dashboard that will allow the board and principals to track progress. The plan includes a principals’ workday in May to refine templates so buildings can adopt the continuous improvement process and roll it out with staff in August.
Staff showed printed materials of the mission, vision and pillars and said they are exploring portable banners and posters for schools and board meeting backdrops. The materials will be placed on the district website and principals will work with building teams to make the plan “living and breathing” in each school. Board members asked about cadence for check-ins; staff said the frequency will depend on which metrics are selected (some metrics may be quarterly, others annual).
Ending: The Committee of the Whole praised the work and directed staff to continue dashboard development and metric selection; no formal action was taken at this meeting.
