Calimesa appoints mayor, councilmember to regional ad hoc on truck routes after resident complaints about Douglas Street
Summary
Following public comments about heavy truck and through traffic on Douglas Street, the Calimesa City Council appointed Mayor Molina and Councilmember Edgar Garcia to a 2x2x2 ad hoc committee with Beaumont and Banning to discuss regional truck-route changes.

Resident Joyce McIntyre told the council Douglas Street is deteriorating and becoming a de facto through route after traffic was detoured onto it. “Now it's this car after car after car,” McIntyre said, adding she had “almost been broadsided 4 times” and that trucks and speeding vehicles create noise and structural damage near her home.
The city reported the ad hoc was proposed after the city of Beaumont completed a truck-route study and requested neighboring cities form 2x2x2 committees — two members each from Banning, Beaumont and Calimesa — to coordinate on regional truck-route planning. A staff presentation said Beaumont has already appointed its two members; Banning had not yet made appointments.
Mayor Molina nominated herself and Councilmember Edgar Garcia to serve on Calimesa’s committee; Garcia accepted. Staff said once Banning makes its appointments the three cities’ ad hoc committees will meet to discuss truck routes and regional coordination.
No formal changes to truck-route ordinances were proposed at the meeting. The appointment places two Calimesa council members on a regional working group that will consider traffic patterns and possible route changes, and staff will report back to the council on outcomes.
