Hinsdale commission approves two commercial sign permit applications

The Hinsdale Historic Preservation Commission voted Wednesday to approve two commercial sign permit applications and to approve its Jan. 14 minutes.
The first permit, Case A-4-2025, was for signage at 8 East Hinsdale Avenue, where a representative for Coldwell Banker/Don McKenna Group described “a minor decal signage change” that would remove a logo from an awning, add two decals per window and remove some door decals so the overall signage area would remain under the 25-square-foot limit required by the zoning code. The commission moved to approve the permit and voted unanimously: Commissioners Barclay, Weinberger, Olsen, Elder and Chairman Bowman voted “aye.”
The second permit, Case A-5-2025, covered 14 West Hinsdale Avenue Unit A1, where a Guaranteed Rate representative described the request as “just a logo update essentially” and said the new signs were otherwise like-for-like with the existing signage. The commission approved that application by the same unanimous vote.
Earlier in the meeting the commission approved the minutes from Jan. 14 by unanimous vote. During the meeting staff reported only progress updates on other agenda items: work on a Memorial Building historic plaque remains under review and staff said they are continuing communications about Sixth Street grant status and expect an update at the next meeting.
