Milford Inland Wetland Agency holds organizational meeting; elects chair, vice chair and parliamentarian

At the start of its Jan. 15 organizational meeting, the Milford Inland Wetland Agency reappointed and swore in several commissioners and elected officers as required by its bylaws.

Following procedure under MIWA bylaws, the commission elected Bridal Hagman as chair, Matt Connors as vice chair and Julie Valvo as parliamentarian by acclamation/roll-call procedure. Each election was presented by the clerk and approved by voice/roll call; the newly elected chair thanked members, saying, "It's my privilege and honor to carry the role of chair." The clerk (identified in the record as Lisa) handled nominations and cast the formal votes to confirm each officer.

The meeting opened with a staff reminder that the session was conducted under the Freedom of Information Act and Governor Lamont’s executive orders for remote meetings, and that the meeting was being recorded and posted on the City of Milford website.

Board members also voted to allow a designated agent to act for the agency for administrative matters; that motion was seconded, and the clerk recorded the approval. The agency accepted a memo from the city engineer and staff and approved minutes from the Dec. 18, 2024 public hearing and regular meeting by roll-call vote (one abstention noted by Matt Connors on the minutes vote). The chair thanked outgoing vice chair Steve Munson for his years of service.

The organizational steps concluded with announcements of upcoming training opportunities from the Connecticut Bar Association planning and zoning section and reminders that the next meeting will continue a public hearing on Feb. 5.
