Hinsdale to replace three police vehicles; chief outlines delivery timing and replacement policy

The purchase price discussed for the three new police vehicles was $145,289, to be procured from Sutton Ford. The department said the vehicles will be replaced consistent with its vehicle-replacement policy: marked patrol vehicles at roughly 3½ to 4 years or about 85,000 miles, and unmarked vehicles every 6 to 8 years.
“Police vehicles are usually delivered between March and April,” said Chief King, who added that the department expected delivery in that timeframe absent supply-chain issues. The department said one older vehicle (vehicle 51, a 2015 Ford Explorer) will be repurposed within the village and the other two vehicles will likely go to auction.
