The Norwich City Council took the following formal votes at its Feb. 3 meeting.
- Ordinance (second reading and possible action): Ordinance regarding the prohibition of panhandling, solicitation and other activities from locations deemed unsafe. Motion to adopt made by Alderman Betancourt, seconded by Alderman Gold. Adopted 4-3. Yes: Aldermen Hayes, Betancourt, Gold, Singh. No: Alderman Nash, President Pro Tem Joseph A. DeLucia, Mayor Nystrom.
- Adoption of minutes (Jan. 6 and Jan. 21, 2025): Motion to bring minutes to the floor by Alderman Gould (record shows Alderman Gould moved; Alderman Nash seconded). Adopted 7-0.
- Presentation/acceptance: Annual report from the Commission for Persons with Disabilities. Motion presented by Alderman Gold, seconded by Alderman Hayes. Resolution adopted 7-0.
- Resolution: Schedule public hearing on Feb. 18, 2025 for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG-CV) substantial-amendment allocation. Motion by Alderman Singh, seconded by Alderman Gould. Adopted 7-0.
- Resolution: Authorize and direct the city manager to receive and record a quitclaim deed of conveyance to the city for property at Fifth Street End of Canal. Motion by Alderman Nash, seconded by Alderman Hayes. Adopted 7-0.
- Motion to adjourn: Adopted 7-0.
