Superintendent Dr. Adrienne Talley opened her report by informing the board that Christine Soderholm, a Hill Middle School teacher who had taught in the district for 27 years, died on Jan. 15. Dr. Talley asked the district community to observe a quiet moment in her memory and said the Hill community and the entire district were saddened by her passing.
Dr. Talley also noted that February is African American History Month and said schools have begun related activities using resources shared across the district. She reminded the board that registration is open for the district’s third annual mental health symposium, which the district will hold March 8 at Metea Valley High School with sessions for both adults and students. Dr. Talley said more than 100 people had already registered.
The superintendent also announced the Indian Prairie Educational Foundation (IPEF) Inspire Breakfast fundraiser will be March 18 at White Eagle Country Club from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., and encouraged attendance to support district programs. Finally, she reminded the board that the state-required 5Essentials survey for parents, staff and students will be distributed later in the month and that results inform school improvement planning.
No board action was taken on these announcements; the remarks were provided as information to the board and community.
