Mayor Levin on Feb. 3 appointed Brian Bellinger to fill a vacancy in Elmhurst’s First Ward and the City Council voted to confirm the appointment. The council approved a motion by Alderman Veramus, seconded by Alderman Toledo; the motion passed on a voice vote and council later recorded full attendance as the body returned to 14 members present.
After the vote, Mayor Levin administered the oath of office to Brian Bellinger, who stood with family members. Bellinger then took his seat as First Ward alderman. The mayor noted that Alderman Deuter (First Ward) was in Springfield and that with Bellinger’s appointment the council returned to full membership.
The council did not record a roll-call tally for the appointment in the transcript; the motion passed by voice vote and the mayor announced the motion as carried. There were no amendments or conditions attached to the appointment recorded in the meeting minutes.
