The Cedar Rapids Community School District Board of Education appointed Cammie Steichen as secretary of the board for a five‑month term beginning Feb. 3, 2025.
A board member read a resolution citing Iowa Code chapter 279.3 and section 277.28, which provide for appointment and oath of office. The motion to approve the resolution was moved and seconded and a roll‑call vote recorded unanimous support. President Garlock then administered the oath; Steichen responded, “I do.”
The resolution directs the board secretary to qualify for appointment by taking the oath of office and to hold office until a successor is appointed and qualified. The board entered the action into the meeting minutes as directed by the resolution text read aloud at the meeting.
Vote: unanimous (all directors present voted aye).
