Derek Reed, identified as chief with Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District, reported January calls for service in the district including 268 total calls, approximately 210 EMS calls, nine motor-vehicle accidents and three hazmat responses. He said the district recently had retirements in command ranks and graduated five rookie firefighters who will begin probationary assignments on various shifts.
