Tipton mayor lays out 'Tipton thrives' plan, cites $2 million bond for youth baseball and West Street rebuild

Mayor (unnamed) delivered a State of the City address for the City of Tipton outlining a strategic plan he called “Tipton thrives,” and announced the city has secured a $2,000,000 bond to invest in youth baseball facilities while moving forward with a planned reconstruction of West Street.

The mayor said the bond will let the city approach the baseball project “with a lot of intent and sincerity” and that the city has formed a statutory park board to improve its competitiveness for additional grants, including a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant. He also described a planned West Street reconstruction “starting from Madison down to South Street,” and said the project will include upgrades to utilities and an extension of the city trail network.

The address served as a recap of work completed in 2024 and preview of projects planned for 2025. The mayor highlighted completed trail work, efforts to restore police staffing, upgrades at the municipal golf course and a substantial playground replacement. He said the administration will invest remaining general obligation dollars secured in 2022 on critical improvements at the city’s Public Safety Building and will put a grant writer on staff to pursue state and federal funding.
