The Codington County Commissioners approved a job description and authorized recruitment for a grant-funded substance use and justice programs coordinator in the Community Services Office.
Sarah Faust, representing Community Services, said the position’s first year of salary and program costs will be funded through the Reaching Rural grant; years two and three would be covered by the COSEP grant. “There’s no matching funds or anything like that. It’s all covered through the grant,” Faust said. The position was described as pay grade 40, starting at $28.65 per hour (about $59,008 per year) with a top hourly range cited in the job description. The role will oversee the grant, develop diversion and reentry programming, and chair the county’s substance use steering committee.
Commissioners approved the job description and then voted to advertise and hire for the position. Faust said the county will advertise immediately and keep the posting open until filled. Commissioners discussed temporary workspace and noted the county’s lease timing will require creative short-term accommodations while staff secure larger space.
The board recorded motions approving both the job description and the recruitment; each motion passed by voice vote and no roll-call tally was recorded in the minutes.
