Tumwater seeks volunteers for pro and con committees for April Transportation Benefit District renewal

During the Feb. 4 council meeting, Administrator Parks said the council authorized a ballot measure to renew the Transportation Benefit District (TBD) and that the city is recruiting volunteers for two committees that will draft pro and con statements for the voters' pamphlet.
Parks said each committee may have up to three appointed members and the committees may seek outside advice but will not receive city staff support. The county auditor's office will provide instructions and is the point of contact for committee submissions. Parks said the statements that will appear in the local voters' pamphlet must be submitted to the auditor by Feb. 28, and the city is asking prospective committee members to deliver a letter of interest to the city clerk by Tuesday, Feb. 18, by 1 p.m., listing which committee they want to join and contact information.
The council agenda for the Feb. 18 meeting will include resolutions establishing the two committees; Parks said the city needs appointments in place to meet the auditor's deadlines. No council action to appoint members was taken at the Feb. 4 meeting.
