State Representative David Ray introduced House Resolution 1006 and said the measure would recognize February as National Marriage Week. "Marriage is a foundational relationship for all of society. Good marriages are the bedrock of strong families," Ray said, arguing the recognition sends a positive message to the public.
State Representative Matt Duffield introduced House Resolution 1008 to honor Michael Todd, an arm wrestler from Malvern, Arkansas, now based in Hot Springs. Duffield recounted that Todd "started his arm wrestling career at the Saline County Fair when he was 17 years old" and described Todd's rise in the sport and his training facility.
Representative Howard Beatty introduced House Resolution 1009, described in committee as Forestry Day at the capitol. Beatty said the item could not be run earlier in the session because of holiday timing and other scheduling concerns and asked the committee to move the resolution forward so it may be considered on the House floor.
The chair called voice votes for each resolution; members answered "aye," and the chair declared each resolution passed. For House Bill 1003 the committee announced it would pass over the item without taking action in committee.
