The Los Gatos Union School District governing board approved the district’s initial collective bargaining proposal (Sunshine articles) to the Los Gatos Union Classified Employees Association (LGUCEA) for the 2025–26 negotiations cycle.
Sarah Tejas, assistant superintendent of educational services and human resources, told the board the district’s proposal opens wages and benefits; LGUCEA has indicated it will open wages and benefits plus two contract articles (hours of employment and workplace communication tools). “Again, for the classified union, our wages and benefits are open,” Tejas said. “We will provide counter offers to the offers they make on all four of those articles.”
Board action: A board member moved and another seconded to approve the Sunshine articles; the board voted verbally “Aye” to approve the district’s initial proposal.
Next steps: The district and LGUCEA will exchange proposals and begin formal negotiations; staff described the expected collaborative process and said they look forward to working with the union.
No specific economic terms were announced at the meeting; Tejas described the item as an action to approve the district’s opening articles rather than a final agreement.
