Resident urges council to reconsider proposed Burbank roundabout over emergency response concerns

A Wooster resident who signed up to speak during public comment urged the council to reconsider a proposed peanut roundabout near Burbank and Highland, saying it would back up traffic during school drop-off and could delay emergency responders.
Speaking during miscellaneous comments, the resident described frequent emergency activity in the area and said a roundabout would slow response time. He said the worst congestion would occur twice daily during the start and end of the school day and warned nearby streets could absorb diverted traffic.
"What is the most important thing for our police and ambulance and fire? What is response time? Am I not right? And you wanna put a donut or peanut in front of your way?" the speaker asked. He said he had seen police and ambulances traveling quickly past his house and argued a roundabout would create hazardous delays.
Council members noted the administration plans a briefing on the proposed roundabout at a committee session before the Feb. 18 meeting; the council did not take immediate action on the project during Monday—s meeting.
