Daniel Pace, director of the Arkansas Motor Vehicle Commission, briefed the House Transportation Committee on the commission’s role licensing and regulating the new motor vehicle industry in Arkansas.
Pace said the commission licenses and regulates new-franchise dealers that sell automobiles, commercial trucks, RVs and motorcycles, plus off-road products such as ATVs and UTVs. The commission also licenses and regulates manufacturers and distributors and lessors that operate in the state, and it fields complaints from the public and from dealers about fraud, title problems and warranty or reimbursement disputes.
Pace described his investigators’ work resolving complaints and fraud investigations and noted prior staff experience in the Attorney General’s consumer protection division. He encouraged members to contact the commission for help resolving disputes between dealers and manufacturers or for consumer complaints that involve vehicle titles or fraud.
The presentation was informational; no rulemaking or enforcement actions were announced during the committee session.
