Board to add construction GMPs, county lease agreements and property easement requests to Feb. 10 consent agenda

District staff presented several construction and real-estate items and asked the board to include them on the Feb. 10 consent agenda for formal approval at the business meeting.
Brian Cohen (district construction) summarized that county-owned properties operated by the district require lease/agency agreements; the agreements for Coltrane Webb STEM School, Opportunity School and Mary Frances Wall were reviewed by county and district attorneys and approved by the county commissioners in January. Cohen asked the board to add those to the consent agenda.
District staff also presented guaranteed maximum price (GMP) amendments for major projects: an $8,500,528 GMP amendment for the balance of construction at the Opportunity School project and a $10,553,131 GMP amendment for the balance of construction at the Mary Frances Wall pre-K center, which when combined with earlier amendments results in a total project GMP remaining within funds previously approved by the county and reviewed by the Local Government Commission.
The board also reviewed a requested 7-square-foot sewer easement on J. M. Robinson High School property for a sanitary sewer connection; staff said the easement is minor and that maintenance of the public line is the city/county responsibility. A flooring replacement project at Bethel Elementary School was presented as bidding successfully came in under estimate; staff recommended award. The Public Safety Academy renovation project was discussed as well; staff described a negotiated low bid at $1.211 million (after negotiation) for a training tower and urged timely approval to meet a four-month equipment lead time so the tower will be ready for the coming school year.
For each of these construction and real-estate items, the board had no substantive questions and consented to add the items to the work session’s consent agenda for formal action at the Feb. 10 business meeting.
Ending: The board added the lease/agency agreements, GMP amendments, sewer easement, flooring replacement award and the other construction items to the Feb. 10 consent agenda and asked staff to bring formal documents for approval at that meeting.
