Vermont picks two agencies to begin CCBHC certification under federal demonstration

The Vermont Department of Mental Health told the House Appropriations Committee on Feb. 5 that it will begin implementing the certified community behavioral health clinic (CCBHC) model in two agencies as part of a federal demonstration that increases federal match for integrated mental health and substance use disorder services.
Commissioner Emily Hawes said the CCBHC model aims to expand access to evidence-based substance use disorder treatment, mental health services, 24/7 crisis response and medication assisted treatment for opioid use disorder. "This model requires agencies to meet a robust criteria regarding timeline of access, quality reporting, staffing, coordinating with local services and education systems," Deputy Commissioner Samantha Swee said.
